Nithyananda Yoga: The Most Authentic Yoga from Source Scriptures

Nithyananda Yoga: The Most Authentic Yoga from Source Scriptures

The Lineage of Yoga

Throughout the Hindu history, after the revelation of Yoga by Paramashiva Himself, great Yogis and sadhus practiced Yoga to acquire the best physique and physiology to manifest the state and powers of Paramashiva. This is authentic Yoga.

Even just 30 years back, Yogananda Puri was alive on Earth, shamelessly showcasing the Shaktis from the Hindu Shastra. He was born in 1921 in a small village in the outskirts of Tiruvannamalai. He grew up practicing the traditions of the Natha Sampradaya evolved into a powerful Yogi roaming all over India. For a long time, he resided in what is now Burma until in 1948 when the British split India into smaller countries. That is when he returned to Tiruvannamalai and settled down.

But it wasn’t until 1978, his true purpose for descending on planet Earth was fulfilled.

January 1978, the cosmos Itself was born in a human body. In the twilight hour of the morning. He assumed the body inside his mother’s womb. His name was Rajasekaran and He would later be known to the world as SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam.

Yogananda Puri was in the young Avatar’s life from the beginning on.

The Avatar SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam describes the extraordinary power Yogananda Puri carried. He says, “My Guru, Raghupati Yogi, he is extraordinary. He is totally a body of miracles! He is just a bunch of miracles! That’s all! Anything he does will be miracle. He will just sip the cold water through the nose, and spit that water through mouth, and it will be boiling water! I have seen the kind of a play he will do. And he will sip the hot coffee through the mouth, and just start releasing that through the nose. By the time it reaches the ground, it will become ice-ball, please understand, ice-cube! Means, he can play anything with his body! He can make his body as hot boiler or freezer! I have seen with my own eyes, he cooking just by touching the pot! In the mud pot, he will put water, rice, and just touch it. In two minutes rice is ready! He will tell, ‘Come on, eat! The kind of a heat he will generate through his body, or cold he can generate through his body! His body was a freezer, boiler, all put together! Early morning, when he wakes me up and takes me to the temple to teach Yoga, during this Margazhi month, the water will be very cold. I have seen him doing this multiple times. He will just point to the area where I am taking bath. That area will be warm. Sometimes, even hot water! In the temple tank, he will put his finger and say, ‘Come on. Take bath!” It will be warm water or hot water, never I felt the cold! That is a totally different level. I am talking, normal, so-called, your plane. And my grandfather-the kind of a faith he had about his body! We are the last generation who have seen those kind of people.”

Now, the SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam has promised not only to make thousands of Yogis, but lead the whole world into a conscious awakening.

Nithyananda Yoga – The authentic Yoga

Nithyananda Yoga is the revival of THE original Yoga. It has been revealed and gifted to the world by Living Avatar SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam as per the intention of Paramashiva, not as a mere physical exercise but as a clear path to manifest yogic powers.

Nithyananda Yoga is all about experiencing, expressing and manifesting the state, space, powers and glory of Paramashiva!

Revival of Paramashiva’s Original Yoga

For most Yogis around the world, enlightened master Patanjali is the Father or Yoga: He presented a system call Ashtanga Yoga, comprising 8 dimensions of Yoga, approximately 3,000 years ago.

Little we know that Yoga was revealed in details by Paramashiva, the first and foremost Guru, in a system He revealed as Shashtanga Yoga, over 60,000 years before Patanjali!

Paramashiva reveals Shashtanga Yoga in the Kirana Agama – (Yoga Pada 2.3), one of the original authentic scripture on Yoga:

प्रत्याहारस्तथा ध्यानं प्राणायामोस्थ धारणम् ।
आसनञ्च समाधिश्च योगाङ्गानि षडेव तु ॥ ३ ॥

pratyaharastatha dhyana prā āyāmostha dharaam |
Asanañcasamadhiśca Yoga gani a evatu||3||

It is to be known that there are six limbs of Yoga. Now listen to those various subservient parts of yogic practice: pratyahira, dhyana, prääyäma, dhiraa, isana, and samadhi are the six constituents of the Yogasystem.

Three truths you need to know about Yoga

On June 21st 2016 International Day of Yoga, the SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam addressed the world in a mind blowing discourse, sharing sacred secrets on the true Origins of Yoga. Here is what you have never been told, but need to know about Yoga:

1) Yoga is from Paramashiva

This first thing you need to know is that Yoga did not originate from Patanjali. “Patanjali is the organizer, not originator. That’s the first thing you need to know”, said the SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam.

The SPH explained, “With all my respects to Patanjali, I want to declare this truth to the world: 60,000 years before Patanjali, a Being walked on the Planet Earth, assuming the physical form, Adi Guru, Paramashiva, the Founder and Father of the Yoga system.

Patanjali Yoga Sutras is a great book, no doubt, but not the first book. Unfortunately, many popular Yoga gurus all over the world, always stop with Patanjali. Very few say Yoga was before Patanjali, and even if they say, they’re not able to present the scriptures and literature.

All the revelations of Paramashiva are called Agamas, the complete work of Paramashiva, where He presents detailed, elaborate material with high quality precision. People are very comfortable having Patanjali as the originator of Yoga because Patanjali can be secularized, but not Paramashiva.

2) Yoga is from Hinduism

The second important truth is that Yoga is from Hinduism.

Always ask for the original source. It is unfortunate that the original scriptures revealed by Paramashiva are not available for the masses. It is unfortunate nobody promoted that. Because it is very easy to secularize Patanjali; very difficult to secularize Paramashiva.

We need to understand that Yoga cannot be developed and cannot be separated from Hinduism. It is a perfect system that was revealed by Paramashiva and further organized by living enlightened masters, disciples of Paramashiva over thousands of years, with a clear purpose, an intention.

You cannot develop on Paramashiva. Yoga is a complete science that has taken into account all types of bodies past, present and yet to come in the future. Altering Yoga is not development but dilution.

The secular world has diluted a great science that we are yet to discover and reveal to the masses. But first understand, if you have practiced something in the name of Yoga, ask your teacher for the clear reference. Where did this technique come from? Always ask for the source. Only then you should even consider practicing these techniques safely.

3) Yoga is the science of radiating enlightenment
The third important truth is that Yoga is not just the science of keeping you healthy, Yoga is the science of radiating enlightenment.

Through Yoga one attains liberation
Sastra Pramana, scriptural authority:
Paramashiva reveals in Kirana Agama-Yoga Pada (II.3)
योगाद्सिद्धिश्च मोक्षश्च तदभ्यासाच्छुभम् खग ।
षडङ्गरसच बोद्धव्यस्तस्याङ्गाम् सृणुष्व तत् ॥
Yogadsiddhiśca mokshaśca tadabhyäsäcchubham khaga|
shadagassaca boddhavyastasya gamshnu vatat ||

Through the practice of Yoga one can attain beneficent accomplishments. He can attain liberation. He can ascend to the state of ineffable bliss.

Yoga is not just the ability to stretch your body. It is ability to manifest what you want. Yoga is not all about making you better man. Yoga is all about making you Superman.

Nithyananda Yoga is THE Yoga for your body

Power of yogic physiology

Understand, Yogic Body means: power, energy, flexibility, health. All these four put together is Yogic body. Yogic body in itself is a Power. All four qualities are worked upon and developed through the authentic practice of Nithyananda Yoga”, including traditional asanas, pranayamas, yogic cleansing techniques, mudras, bandhas, and the traditional Rope and Pole Yoga: Shivakhamba.
When the body is intensely prepared by the practice of Nithyananda Yoga and Shivakhamba, the master’s initiation- the Shaktipata, simply becomes Power.

The Power of Yogic physiology is the ability to go beyond food. The ability to build itself on pure Prana and long breath. The ability to go beyond sleep, eat as much as it wants or as little as possible. A Yogic body is the one whose muscle memory expresses its peak possibilities.

Having a glimpse of enlightenment, a satori, is not difficult. But to hold and radiate the same energy continuously, the body needs preparation.
It needs to develop a strong nervous system. Only then it will hold the master’s energy during initiation. It will directly manifest as powers.
In a male body you should start with power, then add flexibility, then add energy; it will become healthy. For female body, start with flexibility, then add power, then add energy; it will become healthy. That is why the male body should start from Shivakhamba.

Nithyananda Yoga is a great possibility! The possibility to live an extraordinary life, in an extraordinary body. You are now ready to start your practice!

Power Manifestation: Science to Manifest Paramashivattva

Power Manifestation: Science to Manifest Paramashivattva

“Breathe Paramashiva, make people breathe Paramashiva. Manifest Paramashiva, make people manifest Paramashiva!”

“Neither there is a law nor there is a logic in Paramashiva’s functioning. There is a tremendous love and integrity to His love. Once you catch His love and His integrity to his love, you will understand, that is the way He functions.”

Paramashiva has nothing to achieve through anyone. Neither money, nor beauty, nor age, nor wealth, nor possessions – whatever anyone may think as most valuable in their life, nothing is useful for Him. He is not looking at someone for any utility value. He is looking at them only as a conscious value. He is flowing towards the person just to manifest through them. He is rushing towards someone just to manifest through them. Even if all wealth, life, beauty, car, bank balance, houses are offered to Paramashiva, it is like a lion cub offering grass to a lion.

Manifesting Paramashiva is manifesting Paramashiva with all his powers and qualities. For that, you only need to declare “Paramashivoham.” The moment seeking starts in someone, they already received the incoming call from Paramashiva. Now they have the Adhikaāra (authority) to declare “Paramashivoham” and start manifesting the powers and experiences of Paramashiva, and manifest life as they want. Declaration alone is powerful enough to manifest the powers of Paramashiva, and Paramashiva is waiting to fulfill it, waiting to manifest through the person.

“Declare with all your will, ‘Paramashivoham!’ Manifest what you want in your life. If I am Paramashiva, this is the way I want my life, let me manifest it. Just by the power of the declaration of Paramashivoham, make the body as you want. Just by the power of the declaration of Paramashivoham, make the mind as you want. Just by the power of the declaration of Paramashivoham, make life as you want.”

Every time someone declares “Paramashivoham,” Paramashiva rushes towards the person to manifest through them, because the Whole wants to manifest through every part, the Whole by Its nature wants to manifest and celebrate Its existence through every part. The moment someone even has the guts to declare “Paramashivoham,” Paramashiva just feels mesmerized by the person and He just lands and manifests through the person. Manifesting the powers and experiences of Paramashiva is the purpose of all that exists. The purpose of all life is to manifest Paramashiva. Whenever a being declares and moves towards manifesting Paramashiva, all of Existence supports that being and rushes towards them.

Manifest Powers to Remember You Are Paramashiva

Low and powerless inner image is the result of forgetting the original state of Paramashivatva – the space of being Paramashiva. SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam affirms that the only way this state can be remembered again and again is when the powers of Paramashiva are manifested.

Only when the powers are manifested; the low inner image gets transformed to the powerful space of Paramashiva. Paramashiva is the source and the one who can manifest and play with powers. Being in Oneness with Paramashiva facilitates the manifestation of these powers.

“Manifesting powers every day in your day to day life will change your opinion about you. And the beauty of Paramashivatva is when you change as you want, the outer, even the inner [world] whatever need to be changed will be awakened, and you’ll go through a change. Your identity about you will change.”

The powers can be used for everyday simple events like changing the traffic signal so one can move through the traffic faster and healing knee pain to as great as manifesting whatever someone wants as reality.

Kundalini – the Macrocosm within the Microcosm

Kundalini – the Macrocosm within the Microcosm

Our understanding of Deeksha would be quite incomplete without a comprehensive grasp of Kundalini Awakening, which is the power and the purpose behind all Deekshas.

The Vedic world-view is shaped by the principle of the universal hologram, where the tiniest sub-atomic particle holds the key to the secrets of the entire Cosmos. A hologram is a complex structure wherein every part is a complete and faithful reflection of the Whole. As a fragment of this universal hologram, every individual is a perfect microcosm, a flawless and adequate representation of the Cosmos.

The Yajur Veda, a primary sacred text of the Vedic civilization, declares:

“Yatha pinde tatha brahmande, yatha brahmande tatha pinde”

As in the individual, so in the Cosmos, as in the Cosmos, so in the individual.

And what, indeed, is that mighty force which governs the Cosmos?

Vedic philosophy gave this divine feminine force the name KUNDALINI. Kundalini literally means ‘the coiled one’, meaning, the infinite untapped potential of the universe.

When Kundalini manifests at the universal level, she is known as Para Kundalini, the supreme power of the Cosmos. When she plays in the individual, she is Kula Kundalini, the gracious mother, the life-force that nourishes his body, the energy that empowers his mind, and the conscious power that guides him to his ultimate spiritual fulfillment.

Kundalini has found an honored place in every philosophic tradition of India – whether Yoga, Vedanta or Tantra. For millennia, Yogis, Rishis and Siddhas – the enlightened spiritual scientists of India – have given their lives to enrich the science of awakening Kundalini.

To understand kundalini, we must first understand ourselves. Through the human body flow 72,000 subtle energy channels called ‘naadis’. Of these channels, the most prominent is the Sushumna, which runs from the tip of the spine to the crown of the head. Running alongside the Sushumna on either side and criss-crossing it at intervals are the Ida and Pingala naadis. Kundalini energy or Shakti is said to ‘sleep’ in each of us in the Muladhara chakra, the energy center at the base of the spine. The goal of all Kundalini yoga is to awaken and guide this energy safely up the Sushumna naadi to the Sahasrara, the energy center on the crown of the head, where Paramashiva, or pure Consciousness resides. The blissful union of Energy and Consciousness, Parashakti and Paramashiva is Enlightenment, the culmination of all spiritual effort.

Kundalini – our own ultimate potential

Kundalini is known by many names – the universal energy, the great cosmic mother, the creative force of the universe. But the simple truth is that Kundalini is the highest potential of every individual, the ultimate expression of creative genius, the great possibility of each individual’s inner awakening.

The sleeping kundalini is a metaphor for the un-awakened potential inside us. Without first awakening the Kundalini, it is impossible to awaken the Pratyekatma Chaitanya, the individual consciousness.

The awakening of the Kundalini opens us up to the greater Reality that exists beyond our limited individual selves. It empowers us to harness the Cosmic powers to live more complete, fulfilled and blissful lives. It marks the rite of passage for the human to evolve into the Divine.

In the Yogini Tantra it is said :

As soon as the Kundalini awakens, the person’s inner grandeur and glory can be clearly perceived.

In the yoga-vedanta tradition, a vast and precise science encompassing thousands of techniques exists to awaken and utilize this enormous latent potential. In Vedic India, this knowledge was accessible to all. As a consequence, today’s ‘mystical’ sciences, like levitation, teleportation and telepathy were common knowledge among the people, and enlightenment was the natural state of being.

Living in complete harmony with the flow of Life itself, these people found joyous expression as creators and leaders in the outer world and enlightened mystics in the inner world.

In the course of time, our increasing reliance on the faculties of logic and reasoning led to the suppression of these mystical faculties, and this sacred science retreated from homes and monasteries into the few secret recesses of the yoga-vedanta tradition in the Indian sub-continent, where it is preserved in its authentic form to this day.

Paths to Kundalini Awakening

In the Kaivalya Pada of his Yoga Sutras, Patanjali lists the different ways to attain the siddhis resulting from the awakening of Kundalini.

Janma aushadhi mantra tapah samādhijāh siddhayah (4.1)

The mystical powers can happen by birth, or through medicines (drugs/ herbs), mantras, spiritual discipline or through Samadhi.

For the seeker, Kundalini can be awakened in different ways: through intense yogic practices lasting a lifetime or longer; through rare and sometimes dangerous medicinal preparations; through the tireless repetition of certain mantras; or through Deeksha – the direct transmission of spiritual energy by an awakened being. Of these, Deeksha is the most effortless (and certainly the most beautiful) way to awakening.

One can better appreciate the incomparable gift of Deeksha from the Avatar, when one learns about the spiritual effort otherwise necessary to purify the nadis and experience siddhis.

The right time is Now

The Vedic calendar reveals that our planet is poised for the next big leap in Consciousness. With humanity becoming ripe for transformation, what the world needs today is the compassionate presence of Avatars and enlightened kundalini adepts to guide humanity into a safe and natural global Kundalini Awakening.

The human body and brain are already wired to experience a complete Kundalini Awakening – and yet, in our generation, how many have the superbly trained body and mind that can withstand the rigours of such a powerful explosion of Consciousness?

That is why the first instance of Kundalini Awakening is always, ALWAYS a pure gift from the spiritual Guru.

He Guru has a triple responsibility: first, to stir awake the enormous spiritual power of Kundalini by the resonance-pressure of His own powerful superconscious vibrations; second, to guide this energy safely through the subtle neural pathways of the spine towards the disciple’s crown center, and above all, to shield and protect his fragile body and mind, that might otherwise almost certainly be devastated by this sudden influx of Cosmic force.

The Shiva Samhita declares:

Supta guruprasadena yatha jagarti kundali
Tatha sarvani padmanibhidyante granthayo’pi cha (4.12)

When the sleeping Kundalini is awakened by the Guru’s grace, Then are all bondages pierced (broken)

Ascent of Kundalini

When Kundalini ascends the spine through the Sushumna nadi (the main channel of subtle energy), it results in a huge energy influx into the brain. As it flows from the thalamus to the cortex, Kundalini sets up a powerful energy loop, awakening the latent, unused, non-mechanical parts in the brain, mainly the limbic system and the neo-cortex.

The limbic system is that part of the brain which is associated with memories linked to emotions. It is also that part of the brain which corresponds largely to the Third Eye or Ajna chakra, which is the 6th or the final chakra in the body (the 7th chakra known as the Sahasrara chakra or Brahmarandra is not exactly a chakra, but a subtle opening allowing the union of the Kundalini energy with the Cosmic energy). The opening of the Ajna chakra allows for the unclutching of memories from its associated emotions, allowing for ‘Completion’ or making peace with life.

With increasing levels of coherence, the whole brain comes alive, turning into a super-conductor of conscious energies that heal, empower and transform the person’s life. Enhanced awareness levels, greater creativity and extraordinary abilities start to express, like levitation, teleportation and materialization. This influx of superconscious energy also visibly reverses aging, and improves immunity to disease.

Kundalini is not just a blind force like electricity. It is a conscious spiritual power of cosmic proportions that knows where to go and what to do. Once awakened, Kundalini rips through millions of years of our human conditioning, firing brand new neurons in our brain, opening up unknown strands of our DNA, flooding us with superhuman energy, retracing our mental blueprint, wiping out our most obstinate karmic patterns, and catapulting us to a whole new level of existence. By awakening the Consciousness of each individual, Kundalini opens the doors to a global revolution of Consciousness.

SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam says:

Time and space does not bind Kundalini energy.
Time and space serve Kundalini energy.

For those of us who are merely watching, the extraordinary effects of Kundalini Awakening can seem like nothing short of a miracle – or a hoax.

But SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam says:

There are no miracles.
All miracles are perfectly scientific happenings, based on natural laws that we do not yet understand.

To awaken your Kundalini energy, you don’t need to have faith in me. It is not a prerequisite for me to awaken your Kundalini energy. Maybe, for you to retain the extraordinary experiences and expression of Kundalini energy, you may need to trust some of my words and practice some techniques and teachings, that’s all. Otherwise, faith is not a prerequisite at any level. Actually, nothing is a prerequisite! It is all just a casual play – a leela, that’s it!

Third Eye Awakening: Opening the Cosmic Command Center

Third Eye Awakening: Opening the Cosmic Command Center

The ancient Vedic tradition gave the name Ajna Chakra (the sixth chakra) to the Third Eye. In yogic literature, it is described as a subtle center of consciousness in the region between the eyebrows.

The word ‘ajna’ means ‘command’. The practice of meditation allows it to become the command center for the being, who receives instructions from Paramashiva Himself. It is also known as the command center because, once this chakra is activated, it gives the individual the power of clairvoyance, and the ability to control and influence the forces of Nature, as well as his own lower disposition

Ancient references to the Third Eye

Patanjali speaks on this power in his Yoga Sutras:

sūkṣmā-vyāvahita-viprakr̥ṣṭa-jñānam ॥ 3.25॥

By redirecting the inner vision (one achieves) the knowledge of subtle, veiled and remote (objects and events).

The ancient Yogi Sri Goraksanath of the Nath Sampradaya of Shaivism refers to the Third Eye as ‘bhruchakra’ in his work, Goraksha Vachana Sangraha (‘bhru’ meaning the eyebrows).

It is described to be the size of a thumb (angushtha maatra) and appears like a steadily burning light (deepa shikhaakaara). It represents the eye of Enlightenment (jnana netra).

Modern Neuroscience and the Third Eye

Based on the visible evidence of the effects of meditating on the Ajna Chakra, it is possible to postulate the neurophysiological pathways and structures involved in it.

Several studies have been done on the SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam, ranging from FMRI to PET Scan to qEEG. The studies clearly show continuous heightened activity in the infer-medial prefrontal cortex, and a simultaneous state of total restfulness with awareness across the entire brain, suggesting complete entrainment of neural activity.

Process of Third Eye Awakening

The process of activating the Third Eye as described by SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam includes:

Initiation or Deeksha

This is the process of directly transmitting the bio-energy (Kundalini energy of the Avatar) into the area of the Third Eye, located between the two eyebrows of the recipient.

The meditation consists of visualizing a light or golden light within the third eye, which directly connects with the SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam’s third eye. Timed meditation is performed alternatively, with eyes closed and eyes opened for three rounds.

Meditation using a blindfold

The application of the blindfold completely cuts off any sensory inputs in the form of photons falling into the retina of the eye. In the outer world, the maximum sensory input is through the visual system. Meditating in the darkness of the blindfold on the third eye allows one to focus with minimal distraction, while simultaneously activating the pineal gland (which produces melatonin in darkness). Melatonin is responsible for re-adjusting the circadian rhythm of the body, and has significant anti-aging benefits.

Effects of Third Eye Awakening

• Blindfolded reading
• Enhanced intuition
• Increased IQ
• Ability to use all aspects of the brain’s potential
• Parakaya Pravesham – the ability to enter and understand the other being.
• Many other siddhis (mystical powers) as well as health benefits

Your Personal Door to the Cosmos

Third Eye is like a door to Cosmos. You can receive anything from the Cosmos though the Third Eye. Same way, you can send any command to the Cosmos through the Third Eye. Anything sent through the Third Eye to the Cosmos is immediately, immediately experienced! Third Eye is not just the brow center; it is the Browsing Center also! Just like how you can upload or download anything through the Internet world through an internet browsing center, through the Third Eye you can download and upload anything in the Cosmos. It is the Cosmic browsing center. Any Akashic Records can be downloaded by you when you open your Third Eye.

Bridging Physical and Mystical Worlds

Third Eye is the bridge between the physical world and psychic and cosmic space. All the extraordinary powers, psychic powers, are achieved through Third Eye Awakening. All the extraordinary powers are lived when your Third Eye is completely awakened. Understand: whatever you are seeing with these two eyes is not reality and not enough. Third Eye makes you see the higher reality externally in your day-to-day life, and internally in your life and death journey. Third Eye Awakening makes you immediately experience God.

The Third Eye is a direct bridge to God. Third Eye is not just an eye; it is the very source of your Consciousness. If you align your thinking based on the principle of Advaita, Oneness, all your energy will become centered on Third Eye, all your energy will become stable in your Third Eye. The functioning of your Third Eye will enter into the next frequency.

Destroy Karmic Patterns and Incompletions

The more you use the Third Eye, the more the patterns and engrams engraved in your brain will start getting completed, because you are continuously working with Consciousness. The more you use Consciousness, the more you become Consciousness. What we call karma is nothing but the deep-rooted unconscious patterns and incompletions which force you into a vicious cycle of fear, greed and pain for lifetimes. When you start using the powers of your Consciousness freely, the unconscious parts of your mind are brought under the light of your Consciousness, and they automatically dissolve, clearing the karmas.

Darshan: Face-to-Face with the Cosmos

Darshan: Face-to-Face with the Cosmos

The word ‘Darshan’ means ‘to have a glimpse of.’

Darshan is traditionally used to describe the moment when we behold a deity, an Avatar, a saint or an Enlightened Being.

The experience of Darshan is highly revered in the Vedic tradition, as just seeing such a being can cleanse the karmas of lifetimes, and create a deep and lasting transformation within the receiver.

Darshan is something far beyond mere physical ‘seeing’. Like many mystical Sanskrit words, it is a word that cannot be directly translated; but rather, it has to be experienced.

Darshan is ever-present

Darshan is actually the powerful superconscious vibration that is present around an Avatar at all times.

Although we usually speak of ‘getting’ the Darshan of an evolved soul, an Avatar does not actually ‘give’ Darshan – He simply radiates Darshan. Just as the sun continuously radiates light, whether anybody is present to receive it or not, the Avataric consciousness is forever radiating its graceful presence. The auspicious moment when each receiver is able to ‘catch it’ becomes the moment of Darshan for that individual.

Darshan can manifest in many forms

1. Physical – in the presence of an Enlightened Master or an Avatar

2. Physical – in the presence of an energized Deity

3. Perceptual – An intermediate level (between 2 & 3) would be the Darshan of the Ishtadevata or Deity in the form of the Master (e.g. people seeing Sai Baba or Meenakshi in Swamiji’s form). This is not directly perceiving, but using the existing form to project / perceive the desired form. It could be a mental projection which is the result of a deep yearning on the part of the devotee, or an actual vision granted by the Deity or saint, who makes himself available on the astral level.

4. Perceptual – in the form of a previous incarnation now no longer in the physical body e.g. Mahavatar Babaji.

5. Perceptual – in the form of the image of a Deity (Ishtadevata). Perception can happen in the waking, dream or meditative state.

6. An instantaneous and direct intuitive grasp of the formless consciousness – This is rare; it usually happens through the intervention of the Guru, or very rarely, spontaneously. This is called Anupaya.

Science of Energy Darshan

The breathing space of an Avatar is like an extension of His physical body. It is a living, healing energy field. A receptive devotee can momentarily experience the expanded space of the Avatar, or a Deity energized by Him. This allows the transmission of Cosmic energy into the devotee’s space. Infusion of this energy results in quantum entanglement, and causes the neurons of the devotee to mirror the space of perpetual completion radiating from the Avatar or energized Deity, at a biological level.

Mirror neurons are special neurons that can observe and mimic the actions of other neurons through imitation. But unlike classical imitation, mirror neurons can activate and process all the observed movements or information without the physical act of imitation. That is, the entire body can silently and without movement, recreate what is happening elsewhere, through a process of direct observation. This is what happens during Darshan as well as Deeksha.

SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam says:

“When you come in my breathing space, suddenly, your mind gets entangled with my no-mind. Entanglement is only in the thought level. If your muscle-memory gets entangled with my muscle-memory, it is called entrainment. And if your bio-memory gets entangled with my bio-memory, it becomes enlightenment. Entanglement becomes entrainment and entrainment becomes enlightenment.”

Entanglement, Entrainment, Enlightenment

The science of quantum entanglement, entrainment and enlightenment can be elucidated further

In physics, quantum entanglement usually occurs between energetic subatomic particles.

A thought is nothing but a small packet of energy released by the cells in the form of subatomic particles. Scientifically, the thought free space of an Avatar would be filled with virtual particles, unlike that of a thought-ful human mind.

The absence of thoughts in the Avatar would not allow entanglement to be transferred from the thought energy of the devotee into the Avatar’s mind. On the other hand, due to the high energy of the Avatar, the virtual particles having no thought patterns would rush to fill the space of the devotee, entangling with the devotee’s thought particles and creating entangled virtual particles in the devotee, leading to a temporary no-mind state. During quantum entanglement, the entangled particles acquire oneness in action, irrespective of their separation in space. This is what Albert Einstein termed ‘spooky action at a distance’, and it offers an explanation for the phenomenon of long-distance healing by the Avatar.

Darshan also has lasting effects, because the quantum correlation between the two systems (ie. the Avatar and the disciple) survives their separation in time as well as space. So the Avatar’s space continues to influence the disciple’s space for an extended period after darshan. This would explain the delayed effects of darshan recorded in certain devotees, who continue to experience an accelerated speed of healing of diseases for weeks or sometimes months following a single darshan.

At the tiniest of biological levels, which are molecular or sub-molecular, energy is stored and transmitted in the form of the life force called the biological energy. An Avatar, being a pure expression of Cosmic energy, His very core physiology is different at the genetic level from that of a normal person. Transmission of the Avatar’s bio-energy into the disciple effects the fundamental physiological changes necessary for the disciple to experience the state of Enlightenment.

How to receive Darshan

The important thing in Darshan is not ‘what to do’, but ‘how to be’. As mentioned earlier, Darshan cannot be given, but it may be ‘drawn’ from the Source by the receiver, by tuning into this superconscious vibration.

Darshan is a powerful cleansing process that brings up the unconscious mind to the receiver’s conscious scrutiny. The intense vibration of Darshan causes the hidden layers of the unconscious to erupt, releasing both physical and psychic blocks in the receiver’s system and cutting through the layers of unconscious negative patterns built up over lifetimes. His physiology can actually change in the presence of the Cosmic Consciousness, and his bio-memory effortlessly ‘learns’ the expression of enlightenment.

For the receiver who is ready, darshan can be the moment of permanent and irreversible transformation.

Darshan in SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam’s words:

The SPH always says, ‘Darshan is the enlightenment technique for lazy people!’

Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa says beautifully, ‘If you want to scare away some birds sitting on a tree, you don’t have to do it one by one. Just clap loudly once, and all the birds on the tree will fly away.’

In the same way, in the Master’s presence you don’t have to work on your samskaras (engraved memories) one by one. You don’t have to work so hard! The Master’s powerful Darshan is the one ‘clap’ that can destroy all your samskaras once and for all!

Preparation for Darshan

The Darshanopanishad, which is part of the Sama Veda, clearly spells out the preparation a devotee can make to get the maximum out of Darshan:

Tapas – Spiritual discipline
Santosha – Completion
Astikya – Conviction in the existence of the Divine
Dana – Benevolence towards all
Ishvara Pujana – Gratitude to the Divine
Siddhanta Shravana- Listening to the Truth
Hri – Humility
Mati – Faith built on conviction
Japa – Constant remembrance of the Divine

In fact, this space of approaching Darshan is akin to an ‘internal Tirtha’ (pilgrimage), which is far superior to the ‘external Tirtha’. Darshan serves as a conduit for the constant inflow of Cosmic energy, allowing one to maintain continuous awareness in all the states of being – wakefulness, dream state, deep sleep and beyond. Once Darshan has become a complete initiation within the receiver, it is possible to receive Darshan in any of these states.

Darshan in Large Congregations

Large congregations influenced by the presence of Avatars or saints, or massive events like the Kumbh Mela (the largest spiritual congregation on the planet) open up the space of the seeker or devotee due to the highly charged atmosphere and the mirror neuron effect happening on millions of people at the same time.

SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam describes this phenomenon:

The Master is like a radiating light. Your body and mind is like a mirror. When you sit in an unclutched way in the Master’s presence, all your bodies and minds become mirrors reflecting the Master’s Consciousness. They get focused like laser beams, aligned and polarized towards the Master’s Consciousness. So his bio-energy is simply transmitted into you. Your body becomes light and just flows in the ether.

If you keep five such mirrors in front of a single light, the illumination is going to be five-fold, because five mirrors are reflecting the light, and the whole area is lit intensely. Now, if 10,000 mirrors are kept in front of the same light, can you even imagine what will happen?

In the same way, when 10,000 people sit in the Master’s presence in an unclutched space, the same Superconsciousness is reflected 10,000-fold, and an intense Superconscious energy field is created. If 10,000 bodies and minds focus themselves on the Master’s Consciousness, it becomes equivalent to 10,000 Enlightened beings sitting in Samadhi. This is what I call creating Shambhala on planet Earth!

Deeksha changes Gene Expression

The human genome has been sequenced, and it is now established that all humans have approximately 25,000 – 30,000 genes.

A gene is the fundamental blueprint of a living organism, which can encode several proteins and signaling pathways for life to exist and continue. At any given time, only 10,000 genes are expressed (operational) in normal life.

It has been shown that during the Inner Awakening initiations, the gene expression changes to such an extent that the genes which cause an increase in energy, stem cell count and health are up-regulated, while those that are harmful, such as genes causing cancer and autoimmune disorders, are down-regulated in all participants. This is the visible effect of the bio-energy of the Avatar’s Deeksha transforming the bio-memory of the disciple.

SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam says:

“Deeksha is like an intense downloading into you. When your DNA is activated, the knowledge, consciousness and information contained in the macrcosmic bio-energy can be effortlessly transmitted to you without any conventional methods. With every new strand awakened, you start experiencing many things, such as freedom from negative engrams, intellectual and spiritual clarity, physical health, anti-aging and extraordinary powers.”

Significance of Deeksha from a Living Master

Deeksha is revered in the Vedic tradition as the ultimate gift that a Master can confer upon his disciple.

In the ancient Hindu text, Rudrayamala Tantra, Lord Shiva says:

“The one who is not initiated does not attain liberation nor a better future. So by all efforts, one should get initiated by Guru. “

Only from a fire can another fire be lit; Only from a living Master can the transmission of the lamp happen! A Master who exists on the subtle plane may be able to offer the disciple spiritual guidance, but for the experience to settle in him as a physical reality, it has to be transmitted from a body which is vibrating at the higher frequency. Only the already reprogrammed DNA of the living Master can transmit that frequency and reprogram his DNA. Only a living bio-memory can share its experience directly with the disciple’s, through a look, a word or a touch of initiation.

When the disciple melts down and sits with a deep trust, the connection between him and the Master happens – this is Deeksha. When a sincere seeker or disciple sits in a deep, relaxed mood, not only does the Guru come alive with the disciple, but the disciple also comes alive with the Guru. Both experience fulfillment, and the transmission of the lamp happens automatically. This is Deeksha.
